Why don't I have an apps found to open URL?

No app found to open URL

I just purchased a Verizon prepaid Moto E 2nd Gen. and I am already having issues. The first is when I use the preloaded Google search bar on the home screen, the Google search app, or Google now. When I click on some of the search result links a message pops up that says "no app found to open URL". (Interestingly, one of the links that gave me this message was an Android Central link. ) It isn't many links, maybe one or two per results page. Also, it does NOT do it if I perform the same exact search within the Google Chrome app. I can open the same Android Central search result link with no problem. I have updated all apps. I did update to 5.1 but then did a factory reset thinking the update was buggy. Even after the factory reset it is still doing it.

Re: No app found to open URL

Is the link http:// or https:// or some other format (like ftp:// or irc://)? By default (without installing other apps) the only format URL a phone can open is http or https.

Worst case - bring the phone to Verizon and ask if they can please reflash the update, since the problem happened after they updated your phone (making them liable for any problems the update caused).

Installing or reinstalling or enable Chrome. This browser might just be what you need.
I disabled my copy of Chrome and every icon stopped working. Enabling it fixed everything.
