I received a replacement phone and phone keeps saying it won't activate without a Sim card, where is the sim card located?

receiced a relacement phone and phone keeps saying it won't activate without a Sim card

Square Trade told me to remove battery and back cover before sending it back. Now replacement phone won't activate without a Sim Card. Where is this Sim card?
