How do you hide the status bar for screenshots?

I have to crop out my status bar everytime I make a screen shot. (The bar with time and battery life)

There's no way to automatically leave out the status bar. There are ways to get rid of it prior to taking the screen shot, but those all require system modifications.

If you are running 6.0, there is a Demo mode that masks all your notifications and puts up a generic status bar... specifically for screen shots and demonstrations.
