Does anybody know how to get rid of the silhouettes next to each contact on the phone screen? I don't want to replace them with pictures. Thanks.

I don't think you can erase the silhouettes without replacing it with a picture. It's the android default so It will always show up. You might be able to grab a blank (or fully transparent) .jpg or .png image and set that.
