Scrambled Messages

So here's the deal, sometimes when I send a text message what the other person recieves is not what I wrote despite the fact that it is typed correctly on my phone. It's like bits and pieces of old messages are replacing part of what it's supposed to say... I know it sounds crazy but I have screenshots of my screen and the other person's to show the difference. I don't know wtf is going on someone help please

Which version of android?
Which carrier?
Which texting app?

A while back a software update on the AT&T servers was scrambling text messages, but they eventually patched the update to the servers.
