Probably because we only have 4 major carriers so there isn't a real competition. And its easier to switch carriers in Europe, unlike here, so people go with cheaper carrier, which in turn causes other carriers to lower their prices.

Well we do pay double it seems, but I remember reading that T-Mobile Europe is "capping" bandwidth at like 500mb... that is pretty low compared to us in the states.

Not sure of the European rates, but are you comparing the unsubsidized T-Mobile plans with the unsubsidized Europe rates?

T-Mobile is probably still higher, but at least they still offer the no contract rate. Unlike the other 3.

yeppppp

i pay 65 for

600mins/ free nights and weekends
unlimt txt
data

i think thats a pretty good deal

for some people the minutes might not be enough but you can add more
i wanted to choose the bare minimum mintues because i dont talk much and when i do its a weekend or at night anyways

i personally feel like its more expensive to buy subsidized phones

just sell your old phone for 100-300 and buy a brand spanking new phone for 300-400 on top

you probably spend the same amnt being subsidized except now your stuck on contract and then in order to afford a new phone when the contract is up you have to sign another contract

must add im using a n1

Unfortunately here, every carrier's network is running on different frequencies (at least T-mo and AT&T)... so you can't really just switch back and forth and have full functionality. In most other countries, there are numerous carriers running on the same frequency, so there is more consumer choice... especially in those socialist countries. Ironic, no?
