Default and custom ringtones!

Pixel pro6... I have assigned a custom ringtone to my wife's number.. when she rings me the custom tone plays but also the default phone ringtone plays too... I cannot work out how to stop that.. so it's a cacophony of 2 competing tones.. pretty horrific tbh

The custom ringtone is just a piece of music on my phone.. as I said originally it plays fine but the default ringtone plays at the same volume too

The stock phone app . Updated December 2023.. and Android 14.. and conventional carrier O2 in the U.K.

Oh ok so you select a different stock ringtone but it plays the one you selected and the default version?

Yes.. when my wife's number rings it plays both ringtones

Well lol
Then clear the phone and contact app data and force stop it, after set up the ringtone again as long as you have Google back up on everything should repopulate

To prevent the default ringtone from playing when your wife calls, check your Pixel Pro6's call settings and remove the default ringtone or assign a custom ringtone in the contacts app only.
