Android Auto Quirk

Just picked up the Honor 8 at Best Buy. Trying to get used to it. There are quite a few quirks but one particular one was problematic. I had it connected to my car via AA and every so often it kept "refreshing" so to speak and would go back to the home screen while navigation was up. I added AA to the list of "protected apps" in battery manager. Haven't tested that yet. Curious if anyone else has experienced this?
