keyboard won't light up!

My keyboard and soft keys rarely light up at all, and when they do it's only for a minute at most (even when I'm texting, and even when I am in my bedroom in the dark!!) This is VERY frustrating because I use my phone for work all the time. I have driven myself crazy with the settings. Only thing I can find is the (screen) brightness setting, which doesn't seem to have an effect on it. HELP!

Get a replacement. My ChaCha works fabulously especially in the dark.
