ok now youre just trolling at this point. im done arguing. i love the camera. and at the end of the day thats really all that matters. if you hate the phone so much do everyone a favor and get rid of it and go get the samsung or nexus that you keep raving about...

Lol calling me troll... on what basis ? I started looking for more info to be able to compare. I asked on the new GS 3 forum if anyone knows of comparisons and was presented with this site. I love how detailed those guys test there, of course not something you want to even hear about if you just want to do a song and dance about what you like.

I will be asking for a repalcement, as I need to do that in next few days anyway, and yes, I might return it if it still does not stand. I will do it not because you are asking me to do it, or because Mercury guy... but only because I am a consumer and can choose.

on what basis? maybe the fact that in every camera thread you constantly keep telling people who like the camera that theyre wrong. you say you have the right as a consumer to choose which product you buy, well so does everyone else. any time someone says they like the camera or they like how the pictures turn out you argue with them and basically tell them that theyre wrong, misinformed about picture quality, and just dumb when it comes to photography. why cant you let people be content with the product they bought?

No - I don;t argue with everyone.. only when someone is forcing me to accept that this is the greatest camera phone.. I infact have admired how many people got great macro shots, as well as sharper pictures than many other pictures. Did you miss the part fo my post where I said I am trying to get a replacement ??

Enjoy the quality if you think that is the best for you.

We got it that you don't like the camera, please move on to another camera you do like. Thank you

The pictures from that link don't look like they're exposed correctly for the One X. They also don't state shooting conditions, camera settings other than iso, etc. It would be very easy to manipulate data and I'd prefer a better test to the one they have set up.

Fair point. This was the main link, where everything is clicked at the same spot for the cameras --> Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III vs. HTC One X: Alien vs. Predator - GSMArena.com

This is the thread where I got the links from --> http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...amera-quality-galaxy-s-iii-vs-evo-4g-lte.html

I have had some shots that I think "man did I take that with a phone?", then I have had others that are disappointing.

Same here. I spent the weekend taking a bunch of shots in Luray caverns and very sunny outdoors in DC (I've got family visiting - time to be a tourist :p). Some were a blurry out-of-focus noisy mess and others were great. I haven't taken enough pictures in enough situations and played with settings enough to pass judgment on this camera yet. The few great shots I've taken lead me to believe that this is indeed a good camera. It's just going to need a bit of a learning curve to figure out the right adjustments for the right situations. I certainly don't think it's the set-it-and-forget-it P&S that's going to take fantastic pictures automatically under every conceivable situation that people are expecting.

I understand everyone's pros and cons here, but for me it is simple: I won't buy a Samsung phone for myself. I don't like their radios and I do not like their build quality or cheap feel. I certainly do not like TouchWiz at all. The camera on the SG3 looks to be a little better, especially when zooming in on small details and where noise is concerned. Everything I have seen on the web and with my own eyes shows me that the ƎVO takes superb low-light pictures, besting everything else out there. In general, I think the SG3 has the better camera although I think the ƎVO camera is nearly as good. It certainly is the best camera I have ever had on an HTC phone, bar none. It's not even close.

Also, the fact I can take slow-motion video with my ƎVO is absolutely fantastic! And it actually works really well. Plus the kickstand kicks ass again.

I love the EVO's camera. It's not perfect, but it is drastically better than any cell phone camera I've used.

I think it's definitely subjective, and depends on what you want out of it..considering it's not like the Nokia Pureview or something where the entire point of the device is the camera with a phone attached, I think it works for me. It's still an F'ing phone/computer first and camera second, or third or fourth.

Am I a little disappointed at the ISO noise and some other shortcomings? Sure. Is it still a good and useful phone camera, FOR ME, definitely. It far outperforms the phone camera I had before, and has allowed me to get shots I previously couldn't. Anything I take on my camera phone is for casual use, and if it's a couple more years until they get that to the next level, whoopty do.

Since the hardware is sound, some of the other things could eventually be addressed in software. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Your choice. The GSIII apparently has the exact same sensor as the iPhone 4S, so if that is what you are after, by all means.

P.S. You do come off a bit combative by posting in every single camera related thread with that link and "WE'VE BEEN HOODWINKED" attitude. Not all of us are blind to the facts.

Well - not you all but I do feel hood winked, as you said I have been able to captrue some shots too that I won't have done before.

I did feel challenged by couple of folks who would add a one/two liners ater anyone complaining that "Oh.. this is the best.. " blah blah. But I never meant to ofeend at least those who can see the noise / what I was talking abt. Those links clearly show the differences.

I've ordered a replacement and will definitely love for the issues to be fixed, or performance a bit better than what I have seen until now.

And for once and all, won;t be visiting the camera greatness :) threads.. it is what it is, and nothing can be done on this model for now ;)

There you go again :) Wonder what you been drinkin ;)

Topic is camera is not that good, proof is here --> Photo Compare Tool - GSMArena.com

"Since cameras are optimized to shoot real-life scenes and not charts, the GSMArena Photo Compare Tool isn't good for comparing exposure accuracy and dynamic range (printed black and white does not compare to a bright light source and a dark shadow)."

There is also no certainty they didn't botch some of the shots. It looks like they know what they are doing, but stranger things have happened. If we had verification from other parties, I would be more inclined to believe it.

The one thing that I do hate so far about the camera is HDR makes everything RED-ISH i took several pics of my dog then had to delete them all because the ball she was chewing looked like it was covered in blood. Switched back to Auto at -1 saturation(gives the best results so far) and it looked as it should look. So there are some issues for sure with the camera atm, the phone has not been out for to long im hoping they will fix this.

Oh and jerkoffs like Mercury don't help get things fixed with their ed attitude.

I noted an issue with the phone's camera producing very red skin tones and played around with the camera forever before I decided to get it exchanged. Everyone I took pictures of looked very red and splotchy. I don't have the issue at this point.

Well the thing is the Iphone 4s has been out for a while now so it was expected that any android especially one that was bragging about its camera be ALOT better, that has turned out NOT to be the case. Picture quality on the iphone 4s and HTC one x/evo are almost the same which should not be the case the one X/evo should be significantly better yet its not sooooo yeah people are going to complain and they have every reason to do so.

But yeah comparing an actual good quality camera to a cell phone camera is just stupid.

Well everyone seems to compare the cameras to the iPhone 4S as the gold standard. I had a 4S and yes it does have a good camera, but, I think the EVO LTE is substantially better. Also, check out comparison review videos on Youtube, there are plenty that compare the 4S' camera to the One X's, and the One X seems to have the outperform it.

BTW, the GS3 has the same image sensor as the iPhone 4S.

I am not one to claim my camera is the best etc.. I am open minded.

However that site is bogus if you ask me. How can you get THAT much of a difference from the HTC One X and the iPhone. There is NO way that is accurate. How did they do these tests? Shoot at a poster? Come on. I bet they took many shots from each camera and had good and bad pictures and posted the good iPhone ones and the bad One X's.

To have a true comparison you need to set them all up side by side in the exact same light in the exact same way and shoot at the same time. One slight degree off of shooting a poster can make a HUGE difference of how the light reflects off of it etc... It is a poster! I would rather have seen a real life subject of a car or something.

Sorry but I honestly think that site is ran by Apple fanboys. I am just being honest not hateful.

I am assuming the One X's camera is the same as ours here BTW. All I can say is all the photos I took so far came out very very good. As good as any I have ever seen posted for any cell camera and that includes the iPhone.Easily as good as my little point and shoot.

Maybe I just got a good one, I can't say. All I CAN say is my results are very very good so far.

who cares about the quality of the iPhone camera when every freagin photo is instagrammed and turned into instant $hit?

Beware that the screen color calibration on El Tevo isn't good - it's horrible. So it's sometimes hard to tell from the screen since it oversaturates the reds and yellows. This isn't really an issue with the actual photo. The photos all look better on a computer screen (calibrated or not!)

I'm surprised at the lack of calibration on the new EVO. Or perhaps they did it on purpose in order to make it seem better. We know that people are often sweeter on warmer hues than on cool or even neutral ones.

I got my phone the day I left for yosemite where it rained and snowed on us. Here are some shots - I was pleasantly surprised with how it handled. I'm a photographer (not pro) with a high end camera usually. This phone camera is great! With some small caveats. It's not pro. But it's a great miniature camera.

The choice to not over-process for contrast in the camera/phone suits me. I have better control over that after the fact. What needs to happen in the phone-camera world is one-click post-processing for how we want it to look. Kind of like instagram - but realistic. This should be built in to the camera system itself. That way people can have any kind of photo they want. Unlike the Samsungs and Apples that choose your default for you.

From a photographers viewpoint - ideally, my phone would shoot and give me a RAW file to process. :) :) :)

CelPhoneTography - Yosemite 2012-05-26 | Facebook

No these are not unedited photos. They're fairly minimally processed - but still processed like all my photos are. And they still originally came from the EVO 4G LTE.
