I love the big screen texting experience (anyone rememver when we had to use T9 keyboards and no threaded views? )

Just noticed one thing not sure it's ICS ro Sense or some setting..

When I get / send a text to a contact in my address book only the last 7 digits of the phone number seem to be getting highlighted/underlined (linked so to say),

So a contact's numbers being (212) 123 4567.. only the 123 4567 part get's linked like this and clicking on it also takes only 123 4567 with it, not the (212) part... essentially breaking the contact linkage from the messaging.

Anyone else seeing this ? or know of a solution ?

have not seen a solution but i got a text from a friend with a phone number in it.. and had the same issue..

Yup - many times I just click on the phone number to complete a conversation but si broekn.

Glad at least someone validated that it's not just me seeing this..

Is there a formal way to give this feedback to HTC ? I notcied tehri "community" link is broken when I try to get to tehri forums

I have the same problem. However, I don't want the phone number in my text messages. Is there any way to prevent them from being there in the first place?

Won't you want to know the number someone sent you the test from.. i think that's why they are there.. I can understand why I would neve rwant to know my spouse's / parent's numbers as I know them by heart.. but generally i find it useful... just saying..

I don't know anyone's phone number, so their number in a text is useless for me.

I figured out why the numbers appear in a text message. If your contact has more than one number, it will display their phone number in the text.

The only way I have found to fix this problem is to get rid of the parathasyss' in all the phone numbers in your contacts.

This issue you're having could be related to the "fix" HTC had to make in order for the EVO 4G LTE and One X to be legal for importation into the US. If this is the car you could give HTC all the feed back you want, but they can't do a thing about it.

Of course I could be wrong and it's a bug they are working on now.

Is there a way to make it show the contact name instead of phone number? My hero used to just show the name of whomever was sending the text. Any way around this?

Well, I don't have this phone. My sister sent me a phone number this morning which came in exactly as the OP described. She sent from iPhone; I have Epic 4G Touch. Neither of which are HTC devices.

This is just a guess, but it's worked on previous phones. If your contact info and messaging contacts seem out of sync, then ask your contact to send you a text in like 5 minutes. In the meantime, completely delete that contact from your phone. When the text comes in, resave your contact using the number as your phone received it:

Buddy: Blah Blah Blah
You: Hey Buddy, text me in like 5.
You erase buddy from your phone
123-456-7890: What's up?
Save 123-456-7890 as Buddy

Apple patent that removed this function of multitasking. Can be fixed via being rooted! Simple! :D

Apple Patent... hmph.

So much BS. I want to drive to Cupertino just to do the French Taunter skit on their front lawn.

Complete with flying cows ;)

And I'll say it again. I don't have this phone and having the same problem as the OP described. Which would mean it has nothing to do with a patent.

Phone numbers in text were fine until recently. I haven't done anything different to my phone to cause phone numbers in text to display this behavior.

I'm wondering if it's an app that's screwing things up.

Easy fix!

Go in the contact and remove the dashes. Save contact..... Fixed!

I have any 800 contacts so won't work, but I can do it for some contacts I guess. Plus spaces make numbers so much more readable...

I can't believe this is not Android or HTC bug....

Yup, my thought too... Perhaps one of G apps.

It happens sometimes when switching google accounts to new phones. It happened on my old evos.

From my experience, alot of people with android phones have this issue.
"Hey I thought I had your number."
"You do, your phone doesn't put 1 and 1 together."

Stupid if you ask me.

But the primary issue of broken phone numbers on SMS app still stays.

It's not fun :)
