I would like to do a factory reset for my shift. will it take it back to the original OS or the one after I updated my phone. I'm looking to wipe my phone completely and start fresh with the new OS.
is this possible. the reason is I don't just like adding to the phone with a update on top of what is already there.

Doing a factory reset won't do anything to your OS. It basically clears out all user data and restores it to factory settings. It will give you a fresh start with your OS being as clear it can be.
