Kindle app wont open just goes back to Play Store

I am having problems with the Kindle App. When I try to open the app, it goes back to the Play Store. I have uninstalled updates and reinstalled them, powered down the phone, cant think of what else to do. Any way to rip the app. out of the phone and start from scratch. It only allows me to remove the latest updates.
