weird status icon?

I have couple weird status icons located right next to signal bar.
"E" and "↑↓" right below
Sometimes it turned to "H" and "↑↓" right below
Sometimes it turned to "3G" and "↑↓" right below......I know this one is 3G in use
But I never have a "4G" and "↑↓" right below, does that mean I never receive 4G LTE signal?
What are the first two signals stand?
Anyone can help?

E is Edge, and I am wondering if H is for HSPA. What network are you on and where are you located ???

Like the previous person started, E is Edge. H is HSPA, 4G is obvious. The arrows are showing you have a data connection. These are the icons your carrier choose our stock if you have an unbranded version.

Edge, 3G, HSPA, LTE and I think there may be an identifier for HSPA+, but I could be wrong about that one. If you're never see LTE, then you aren't getting it.

Thanks for all those information.
I think I never get the 4G LTE. Because I try to use Geekaphone to test my data connection speed. And it's only 174 scores which is terrible lousy.
My carrier is Solavei and I located in Makhattan. Talk to Solavei so many times, they said it's my phone's problem. I probably have to call HTC. And there is no HTC store in NYC, I deeply hope they can help me fix the problem without me sending the phone back.
