I have an HTC one s originally on O2 now on a different network (long story!) but I still get the O2 branding page displayed on start-up. Is there any way to get rid of it?

Yes,
- Root
- Search the system folders for the logo file
- change the file for one you like, or remove it
Similar idea as of removing the boot sound from the Galaxy Ace. I made a video on how to do it. I don't think I'm allowed to post YouTube links here, but just search for the following phrase: "Samsung Galaxy Ace: remove boot sound"
Thanks for that. Just one thing: "root"??? Sorry I'm a noobie at this and not sure what is meant by that term. I'm not a beginner at software though so I'm sure that I won't have a problem once I understandthe semantics :)
