Post root n00b question

Finally worked up my nerve and rooted the Inspire last week. Flashed a new (to me) ROM and got my contacts restored. Looking back, I should have used Titanium Backup BEFORE rooting....oh well, live and learn. Here's my question:

I noticed now when I connect the Inspire to my computer, the phone isn't recognized by the HTC Sync software. I'm thinking this is because I'm no longer on a stock ROM, is that correct?

To my way of thinking, between using Google to backup the contacts and Titanium Backup for the apps/data, most bases are already covered.

yeah it happens which rom did you use?

I started with CM7. I figure I'll run that for a week or two then try something else, maybe Gingerbeast next.
