Actually there was a story a few months back of some guys selling a lady a fake iPad in a parking lot. They charged her ~300$ for it, which would have been a steal for an iPad. Had it not been a wooden plank with the apple logo on the back, and the iPad display and buttons drawn on the front and sides.

The lady bought it immediately just from seeing the logo. She was eventually able to get her money back, but she learned a valuable lesson.
