Why isn't my screen time-out working on my LG G2, eating battery?

Screen time-out not working on LG G2, eating battery

I have the LG G2 (D801) on T-mobile (KitKat 4.4.2), using the Quickcover case as I have for the past 18 months. Screen time-out is set for 15 seconds.

It "used" to be that my phone screen would actually go dark after that 15 seconds but NO LONGER. Sometimes it does - most of the time it does not. Of note is that this happens whether I have the phone in the quick cover case or not.

Battery details show that "screen" is using anywhere from 53-65% of the battery. T-mobile tech support wants to blame the quick cover case but (again) this screen issue happens whether I use the quick cover case or not.

Any help very much appreciated.

Re: Screen time-out not working on LG G2, eating battery

Welcome to AC.

Have you tried Settings, Storage, Cached Data, and clear the cache?

Also, does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
