[ROM][ZVJ] 2.3.3 DanteRom v4 [UPDATE] 10/14/2012

Originally we did...but heres the thing...we used this phone for probably 5 months with CM7. I rooted it as soon as I got it which was early last year... My brother got a new phone a few months back and stopped using the Optimus....well his newer phone messed up and when we went back to the Optimus, thats when we noticed it wasnt working correctly....with the CM7 that was already installed on there, we get service but no data services, so no internet unless were connected to WIFI. when we flashed to Dante Rom v4, that is when we had no service all together...same when I flashed to Ginger Rom...so I just restored it back to CM7 so at least he can make calls and send text....but I'm really confused on how it worked fine a few months ago, and now it's not...I had the same phone with the same CM7 Rom and I tried to activate my old one and it did the same thing...no internet.... Not really sure what to do.

I had an issue similar to this before. Roll back to stock recovery/rom, and call sprint, saying you need to do a hard reset on your phone. They should give you your phone's hard reset code, I promptly put that in a safe place (gmail to myself, and flagged as important). I've had to use it a few times now, and it's great to keep :D

Thank you for the info my friend......1 quick question...how hard is it to revert back to stock rom/recovery??? I looked up a few places and it seems like a pretty complicated process...its there a way to do it by just flashing stock recovery and a stock rom?

Ahhhh, it begins to become clear. You need to do a hands free actification. There are a couple of ways to do this, and you DO have to be on a stock based rom (not an aosp varients like cm7). I would simply do this. Start with this thread and follow it to revert to the ZVD stock software/baseband -

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...royo-downgrade-now-available.html#post1314752

Then follow this guide EXACTLY to root ZVD using Option A, and then once that is done Option B (note this is only partially automated so there are a few steps you must do yourself). If you follow this guide correctly you will end up on the ZVJ stock software/baseband with a custom recovery and root permissions!

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...ted-rooting-ls670zvd-zvh-zvj.html#post1702510

At this point I would either follow bluefalcon13's advice and call up to sprint and have them walk you thru a hands free activation over the phone (you will need your MSL number to do this, and they will provide it). The easier option is to simply take it to sprint and ask them to do it. No worries about them handling your rooted phone.

After you get all this done and you have service, you can then install my rom, or ginger rom or anyother you might desire!

Yeah, that MSL number is a life-saver, once you punch it in, all your problems go away. Save that for future use :D

I think thats what you they tell you to punch in after ##786#... right?

I had it happen on zvd flashing roms. I think it has to do with flashing roms in general, like it wigs out sprints profile for your phone or something... In your case when you switched from the better broken phone, they may have messed up the activation or something

I see..That makes sense....so if I take a rooted phone into sprint Il be ok, as long as it is stock rom and recovery?

As long as they don't do a factory reset from the privacy menu... Doing that on a rooted phone usually will put it into bootloop

Tapatalk'n it from my VM670 running OM-Mandylion IHO on LS670ZVJ baseband

Should be, but if you are that worried about it, just use full unmodded stock, and root/recovery when you get home. I still recommend calling in for a 'hard reset' as the code they give you over the phone will possibly save you a trip back to the sprint store at a later date.

They don't encourage rooting but it is not truelly against policy. Yeah you don't want them doing a factory reset but the have no reason to. They simply pop out the battery, scan one of the codes under it, do some computer magic and power back up and bam! Fixed

Hi hlxanthus, I had originally reported on a few things I thought would improve the rom just a tad bit more. I am writing this after testing some of the ideas out and wanted to give you a report of my findings.

1. I decided to leave Term in data since he has been updating it quite a bit in the past month.
2. I did move FoxFi to /system/app and it opens (I cant actually test turning it on since I have disabled cell data on her phone)
3. I moved Gmail, Maps, YouTube to /data/app (I originally tried to move the Play Store, but it caused such a huge issue with nothing being able to download that I moved it back to /system/app - I wish I could figure out how to move it and work because when google updates it again, it is just going to move to data anyways and will stay there unless people move it to /system/app or flash a rom with it already moved).
4. Left this alone - Zeam isn't updated enough to warrant being moved
5. Deleted /system/xbin/su. I am not sure if this is an after effect of that, but SuperSU said I needed to update the binary - it updated and granted root access, so I don't think it is a big deal
6. Removed stuff from the updater-script
7. Fixed the busybox issue (it is not a running issue, just a redundancy issue) - Dont want to freak people out LOL

I ended up removing RootBrowser for FileExpert as RB did not allow me to multiselect things. I also added flash_image to /system/bin to allow flashing of recovery images.

I know you have moved on to the Nexus S 4g (which is my current phone right now), but am pleased to see you still working on this.

Evilvoice, thanks for your interest. If you don't mind, would you upload what you did so I can see? Just pm me a link. Use dropbox (sign up thru my link in the op if you don't have one) or your file sharer of choice.

As for the rest, you can indeed multi select with root browser (it is multi-sel on its Nav bar at the bottom).

I have taken your ideas to heart and have been thinking of an update to include many of them.

I love getting feed back like this!

BTW have you tried my stock based deodexed ROM in the ns4g section?

Edit: as for the apps that get updated, ultimately I want them in system. I have been toying with the idea of a flashable that will update the system apps and deleting their counter part in data/app (and moving forward having the ROM do this too so you don't have to do a full wipe to regain that extra space when updating.)

Hello hlxanthus

I tried your ROM it was really great I loved theme you placed and navigation was really awesome. But had two problems, I found that signal strength I was getting was poor once I had ROM installed. With Stock ROM I generally get full signal but with your ROM it come out to be low. Also, 2nd problem was I had installed Dalvik cache fix from your post since I was having app download error. I had about 60 or so apps, the problem was phone call, it takes almost 30-60 seconds after I press dial and phone is not responsive that time.

I did performed full wipe and exactly followed instructions you directed in your post. Can you please help. Right now I am using Stock ROM but want to install Dante ROM as I liked theme a lot.

I am really new to android, just had this phone for a week or so.

Again thanks and awesome work.

Did you do a prl and profile update from the about phone menu? I would start there and see what happens. We're you on ZVJ baseband or did you use the baseband fix to run on zvd?

Thank you very much for your quick repIy...I was on ZVJ from the start and did not use basband fix and I did do prl update once but never did profile update. do you recommend i should do that after installing your ROM

Honestly, I can't explain your signal issue. I would do prl and profile update and perhaps a cache/dalvik cache wipe (those are always good to do ). Please let me know how it goes. What method did you use to do a full wipe?

Okay, what apps specifically? Some apps don't allow it and some are not stable there even though it is allowed. Are they apps downloaded from the play store? I would be glad to help but I need more information. And I assume you are moving via the settings>applications menu? Do you have any other mods installed? Which version of the rom, etc.
