I was in a ATT store and examined the v10 they had.
It already had wear on the metal bezel around the camera. Thats store demo phone.

I have that plastic protective ring around it, plus use zerolemon case.

I don't know why phone manufacturers can't figure this one out. Something thats as critical as the camera lens, NEEDS to be protected better. At least have it sit flush with the case back. They could make the phone slightly thicker, with a bigger battery. Galaxy S7 variants are all thicker than the 6 models... EVERYONE is raving about their higher capacity batteries. I have yet to read ONE complaint about the added thickness. The new S7 active does it right... hopefully others will get a clue.

Bunch of idiots designing these things. "Just because Apple does it..." (sarcastic tone)

No, it does not cover the lens at all. It's just a plastic type material that completely covers the metal stainless looking piece around the lens. In fact I did not even realize for a while it was not a factory piece. Only when I saw the factory device I realized it was aftermarket.
