Re: Battery Life - User results

26 hours up, 4.5 hours SOT, still 18% left. Battery life is downright excellent on this phone.

Re: Battery Life - User results

My N7 was great with battery but from what I am seeing after 36 hours owning the V20 this one is better...and when not being used, it simply uses almost no power.

I'm on my 4th day using the phone and I'm getting better battery performance than my S7 Edge which I didn't expect. Huge improvement over the V10! And like you said, this thing uses almost no power when being used which makes a big difference. I took my phone off the charger at 730 am and I've only used it a couple of times to send text messages and here we are 3 1/2 hrs later and it's still showing 100% battery. I consider myself a moderate user...sometimes heavier use in the evening...and I've been able to get through a full day on a single charge. Usually when I put the phone on the charger before I go to bed I'll have <10% battery left. And each day I've managed to get 5hrs of OST.

It will be interesting to see how well battery performance is a month from now and even a couple months the more I use it but I never had it this good with the V10. I could not make it a full day without swapping out the battery for a fresh one.

Yeah LG seem to be one of the best at the moment for standby time battery drain...

To be fair the V20 is on 7.0 Nougat and the N7 was not. Hopefully Nougat will generally help all phones that get it with standby drain.

Standby drain for MM is a very small weight. Majority of weight for MM and N are the display, GPU use and LTE signal quality.

As you know battery usage depends on the usage and user, although I agree with you those are the most important factors.

Undoubtedly nougat will help any phone that gets it. Still doesn't mean they can't be compared.
Of course they can be compared, it's just not fully useful. I have no dog in this fight anyway. I've seen some very encouraging battery numbers for the V20 and some pedestrian ones.

Why dwell on others and people that don't even have the device? Compare to your own previous devices. That's the only practical and objective-ish option.

And how is it not fully useful?
Because they are on different OS, with the newer OS having an additional battery saving feature that would have been updated to the N7 if it hadn't been a Molotov cocktail. But I have a Moto Z Force which has better battery than either of them anyway. Get what you like, and hopefully like what you get.

Glad your Z force with smaller screen and bigger battery has better battery life than the V20. Enjoy!

I had the MXPE for a year- good device overall, but the Z compared to the V20:

-No 3.5 jack
-No replaceable battery (I will take that over about 20% better battery life)
-Smaller display
-No built in option to hide the nav bar taking 15% of space. The apps that can be used are not in any stretch the same function as the firmware feature of the V20.
-Z runs hot with games and GPS Maps.
-Z Not as good camera

I was hoping there would be an MXPE 2 (stereo speakers, 5.7"), but they went Z. Hopefully the V20 passes my picky test.

Re: Battery Life - User results

So this whole doze thing must not do too much for battery life because my main battery drain was phone idle. This is where I'm at so far with my first day. Not horrible, but not too impressive either. Slightly less than my n7.

Re: Battery Life - User results

My V20 had good battery the first couple days but hasn't been as good the last couple. I think I might have and app, or apps, that are chewing through the battery. I recently installed Action Launcher, does anything think that could be it.

On another note, the hifi audio uses a lot of power.
