Try resetting your phone - factory reset - it wipes everything but when something similar happened to me that is what I did and it fixed it. Happens on my Kindle Fire HD also. If you are using a custom ROM then wipe all and reload it.

Question - are you on a custom ROM or stock? The charging issue - you need to call VM - and if your phone is still under warranty they will send you a replacement they did me last year.

Amanda - on your Optimus - just add a 32gb memory card - upgrade the phone to CM7 and then you can run most programs from the memory card and you will not have any problems - this is what I did for my wife's Optimus - she loves it and it is even faster with the cM7 mod.
