I think the 1080p video is actually just a 720p video zoomed in. Not sure if its actually 1080p quality or not... Go to the camera app and look at the something in the screen at 720p and then switch to 1080p without moving the camera. Notice how the field of view changes... So I think you do...

Its not a constant tone, its changes in pitch and frequency. Is a ground loop isolator one of those ferite chokes that you can snap on the power cable?

That's a good idea. I will try at home with some headphones and see. I think the issue there is that with headphones the media volume wont be very high so maybe you wont here it.
