Ringtone Help Please

No matter what I do I cannot seem to get my phone to ring when I am receiving calls, its not on mute but the only noise I get is a boing. I have set a ringtone but it just doesn't ring whenever I receive a call, very frustrating because I keep missing important calls.

I have a Moto E and both phones are set up the same way and the E rings but the G doesn't.

I checked with the owners manual but I still cannot get the phone to ring, What am I doing wrong?

Look in the dialer settings, and contact itself too... Ring tone is chosen in this order:

1) Contact specific, if none then
2) Dialer Setting Ring tone, if not set
3) Settings-Sounds-Ringtone setting

Do you get other sound notifications such as sms or other apps? Your phone might be on "do not disturb" mode

Sorry but I cannot seem to find those setting, where do I need to look?

No phone is not on do not disturb mode, but thanks for the suggestion.
