Moto G: Can I use this USB wall charger?

Hi all,

I just got a Moto G and I was wondering if I could use a USB wall charger that I used for my iPhone. I got it from Monoprice.com a few years ago but it seems like it's discontinued now.

Here's what it says on the charger:

INPUT: AC100-250V ~ 50/60Hz
OUTPUT: DC5.0V+-5%
MAX: 1000mA
MIN: 150mA

Is this charger safe for my Moto G?

Yup, it should do the trick. I see the specs show an output of 1A so it will charge faster than a typical computer USB port but maybe not as fast as the standard charger (I don't own a MotoG, but it seems most original chargers nowadays are 1.5A and 2A).

As long as volts are the same on any charging brick itll work.

Amps or mAmps is just the avaliable oomph the device can pull from.

2Amps

Its all good. Just effects charging speed.

Yes...and no. This is a phone, so it doesn't apply (since the standard USB current output is 500mA and that's enough to charge any phone, albeit ever so slowly). But for tablets, 500mA usually just won't cut it, and connecting these devices to a low-amp charger (like a regular PC port or a regular, 'old', USB wall outlet) won't charge them, especially iPads. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (and I imagine all the new Pro line), for instance, won't charge at all unless you connect it to at least a 1A charger.

1000ma is about the most you can force the battery to charge at. Should top off a flat battery in 1.2 hrs or so.
I use the Blackberry branded 750ma wall wart I got here and it takes a smidge longer at about 1.5 hrs.

Fwiw, I tried charging my new ipad on my computer usb 2 port. The iPad shows no charging, but it does actually charge, albeit at a very very slow pace, and if screen on then it won't be enough for a positive charge.
