I'm going from a Nexus 5 to a Moto X. I'm on T-Mobile's $30/mo plan. Does this mean I don't need to buy a new SIM? I know the prepaid SIMs are different than the postpaid ones. Anybody know?

You don't need a new sim, just insert it and it'll work.

But it is takes nanoSIM, so if you don't have the right size, exchange it at T-Mobile store. Or like me, cut it and use a nail filer to file it to right size.

I'm on AT&T and ordered an unlocked GSM as well. All I did was go to a an AT&T store and got a nano sim and I was done.
