Just got my droid 3 yesterday. Put an external SD card in, formatted it and all.. (was used in my previous phone) and I tried taking some pictures for fun with the camera. The pictures took fine, but when I opened up the gallery to view them, when I get to the 2nd picture I took, the screen kind of flickers and I can see the 3rd picture in the flicker. After a few times of looking at the pictures, all the sudden, one pic is now "unable to be read". I did this several times, and more files continue to become "unreadable" Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?

I really didn't like the performance of the stock Gallery app either. I installed QuickPic and now use that for pretty much everything instead of Gallery because it loads so much faster.

+1 for QuickPic. Love it on my TBolt. Installed on my wife's D3 as soon as she got it.
