Does dual core 1.2ghz processor mean it's clocked at 2.4ghz or is it just 2 512ghz processors?

I've heard both

So technically the X2 has a processing speed of 2.4ghz

That's awesome... wish the OS would catch up

The X2 has two ARM Cortex A9 CPU cores clocked at 1 ghz each. This means that the Tegra 2 is capable of processing two instructions simultaneously at a rate of 1,000,000,000 cycles each second (an instruction takes a certain amount of cycles to complete). However, Froyo and gingerbread are incapable of handling simultaneous instructions so only apps can use the dual core-power. Essentially, once ice cream sandwich comes out, these devices will be able to do twice as much as single core devices.

This speed does not add up to 2ghz, merely means that it can do two things each at 1ghz.
