If I were to root my nexus 4, would it affect my antivirus?

not sure i understand the question?
AV is an app....so if you root you are going to have to unlock the device which would require wiping. Everything on the entire phone, including the SD card will be wiped. So yes, in that respect it will affect AV because it, like all your apps and their data will need to be restore or reinstalled.

I'd start by reading the rooting guides that are stickies at the top of the sub forum, they'll get you started and you can ask any additional questions in there or here.

I meant like will the AV say that superuser or freedom is a malicious app?
