[ROM] Rhode Utility (Froyo activation/troubleshooting) 12June12
Latest version: 12June12 1.1

Rhode Utility Rom
Rhode was a daughter of Aphrodite and sister to Harmonia, she was a co-protector or the Island of Rhodes, this rom is sort of like that.
This is a very small, lightweight Froyo rom you can download and flash fast that includes a few utilities we often use when things go wrong, i.e. protection. This is NOT meant to be used as a daily rom, it is a tool for those times you need to re-activate, or troubleshoot something. It has the same genetics as Harmonia 1, but more stripped down for a specific purpose. It works on both old and new Optimus V phones.
What is here...
Activate
ES File Manager
Alogcat
Browser
Search
Play Store
What was removed?
Pretty much everything
It does not do setup, it can't do email, or even sync contacts. Music? Forget it. If it's not related to what is needed above, it's not needed so it's not here.

This update should fix black screen/kernel problems on newer phones once and for all.Last edited by LeslieAnn; 10-18-2012 at 12:24 AM.

Well I downloaded(and checked md5) and finally got around to trying. So I wiped everything multiple times and used easy install.zip, installed, got LG logo then black screen. I waited a while and felt the startup "clunk" but still got nothing but black. Any idea what happened?

1.01 released
This rom had the same kernel/black screen issues as Harmonia, that should be fixed now.

Ooohhh *facepalm* I feel dumb now. I've never read that thread but I understand now after looking.
Edit: New version flashed fine but the emulator doesn't seem to work now. Great little rom though! I'm definitely keeping this one on my SD

1.1 released.
1.0 had problems with newer screens, 1.01 had wifi issues. This fixes both.
Both had issues with Terminal Emulator, which has been removed.
Rom is prepped for GooManager updates if it ever supports this phone. However, this rom really doesn't need updates, which is why there is no Harmonia style updater.
1.0 users on old screens have little need to update. Everyone on 1.01 needs to update.
Barring significant issues, this will be the last update for this rom.

I just flashed Rhode temporarily on my OV for testing purposes. It seems the Home button does not work?

Re: [ROM] Rhode Utility (Froyo activation/troubleshooting) 12June
Hey all, I've been up for a while trying these and I'm at my whits end. I've tried all three versions on two different OV's (both old screen, both running harmonia 2.8), I've also tried downloading them via the phone, installing them via sd-stick adapter, and copying them via wifi, etc. My experience thus far:
- 1.0 : Loads to the Rhode logo, freezes a few times, then 'Blips' and continues with the animation but does nothing more (have given it over 20 minutes, etc).
- 1.01 Loads to the Rhode logo, but eventually animation freezes, have pulled battery a few times, still same results.
- 1.1 Save as above
- Aeneas : It loads to it's boot animation (red text, white sheen, etc) it does this animation for quite a while, stops, blips, and restarts the animation over and over
I've given them all quite a bit of time before pulling battery. I've also tried re-installing them multiple times (clearing Boot > Cache > System > Dalvik) before hand. I've also tried multiple SD sticks, etc etc.
Any idea why this just won't seem to load for me at all =( I'm VERY VERY Much in need of this (or something like it, to change a phone number as you saw in my other thread) I was so happy when I was pointed in this direction, not sure why it hates me! Thank you in advance for assistance/responses!Last edited by niftypixel; 06-15-2012 at 06:27 AM.

If you listed the steps you take exactly,, you need to clear /data as well.

It can't hurt, and yes, it is generally a required step when doing a full wipe.
If you have any data you're trying to salvage on the phone like call logs or SMS, you'll lose them though.

Oh ok ok, thanks!
Well, in that case, I'll be going off to the library to re download and flash again.
I really want to see if I CAN use Rhode daily. I know yu said it wasn't intended for that LeslieAnn, but with my usage habits it may work out.
Edit: I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but the MD5 sum for Rhode 1.1 you listed abd the MD5 sum on the Goo.I'm site ar different. When I calculated the sum of m download, it matches the one on Goo.I'm. Is that right?Last edited by droidmyme; 06-15-2012 at 05:02 PM.

Re: [ROM] Rhode Utility (Froyo activation/troubleshooting) 12June
The one on Goo is correct, I accidentally left the 1.01 md5 up.
Fixed now, thanks.
Sometimes you can just write right over the top, other times you have to wipe everything. It was a calculated risk hoping to save you some time that backfired.

Re: [ROM] Rhode Utility (Froyo activation/troubleshooting) 12June
Update: Checked the MD5 sum and it was correct, reflashed after wiping /data /cache /boot /system and dalvik. Home button still not working.
Downloaded Rhode v 1.0 and tried flashing that, same problem.
I'll look for a button mapping app, I suppose.
