Blank storage device?

i bought a usb reader for the bottom of my note 10.1 all is good when it comes to usbs but when its hdd's its not as compliant. i was suggested to use a powered usb hub so that's what i did. but i have a 1Tb hdd and it says once i plug it in {blank storage device}. when i use a 500gb hdd it works. i thinking that maybe the device dosen't get read once its over 64gb.

So a 500GB drive works, but the 1 TB drive doesn't? Is it possible they are formatted differently? That could cause the tablet to not recognize one but recognize the other.

Check the file system format.
The 1TB may be ntfs and the 500GB fat32 or exfat.
Notes on ICS can only see far as far as i know
Notes on jelly bean can see both fat32 and exfat.
