Why can't I get my Samsung Note 4 to connect to my MacPro?

I have tried to transfer files from my Samsung Note 4 without success. I have installed and uninstalled Kies, AFT, Smart Switch and nothing works. I have my USB settings right on my Note 4 and still nothing. I have restarted the phone the computer, installed uninstalled and it still says no device connected when trying to use AFT. I am so frustrated right now with this phone I want to throw it out the window. I have never had this much trouble with a phone. This is by far the worst Samsung Phone I have ever owned. Not likely to own another after this one either. Please help.
