Did a factory reset on my phone a few days ago. Backed up my phone and Nova settings beforehand. After reset and installing my apps, there were a couple that didn't install, but there's a grayed out Android icon in their place in my app drawer. The app is not listed in my app manager and when I go to the Play Store, the app is no longer compatible with my device.

So how do I get rid of these ghost icons? Really hope this doesn't involve another reset.

Here is what I did in exactly the same situation.

1 Deselect app sync in your Goigle account
2 Deselect auto download of app in device settings
3 Remove your Google account
4 Shut down the phone
5 Restart and add your Google account
6 Check that your your apps are syncing and any other sync options linked to Google

Should be good to go

Actually found an easier way....

I dragged a copy of the folder from my app drawer to my home screen, removed the app, and the change took effect in the original folder in my drawer. Removed the folder from my home screen and viola, problem solved.
