reset app defaults?

I am trying to make adobe rerader the default app for pdf but I can't see how to make it the default. I can open a pdf through adobe but another program opens it. Under default programs everything is grayed out.

First you need to go to the application manager then select the application which is opening your pdf file and remove clear its cache stored, data stored, and defaults then again try opening the pdf file and while it asks for an app choose adobe and make it default. that might help you up !

In general on all my Android devices, I find the "default" app hit or miss. I've probably selected "always" thousands of times only to have the same dialog pop up over and over again.
