I am currently an iPhone 4 user. I'm thinking of making the jump to an Android phone in particular the Sky Rocket. I do not use Gmail and I was wondering if there is an email app built in that would allow me to get my regular pop email account setup, or if I would be stuck checking my email via the browser.

Yes there is an email app, other than Gmail, on Android that lets you setup other pop email accounts. You can setup ones like Hotmail, Yahoo, probably some other ones like that and even corporate email for your work email if you like. It's a pretty clean app and works great. It allows for the email to be pushed, checked for every few hours, or manually pulled. I use it for 1 hotmail account and it gets the job done fine.

I currently have my 2 personal POP email accounts and the company's MS Exchange on my Skyrocket with no troubles. The phone comes ready to do this, no 3rd party app required.

Does anybody know how to enable secure email (S/MIME) on Skyrocket? And if pre-installed apps can't cut it - what other email clients are there that support SMIME?

Also, where & how do I load my keys/certificates for SMIME on Skyrocket?

P.S. I'm coming form the iPhone world - there I used iPhone Configuration Utility (ICU). I'd generate key pairs on my Mac, get the certs signed with the appropriate CA, bring the certs into ICU into a new Configuration Profile - then connect the iPhone to the Mac and push that Configuration Profile down. Voila - my certs are on the device, then I just enable S/MIME support in the email setting and tell it what certs to use with what account. Now I see no such settings anywhere in Android/Skyrocket, and I seem to be unable to even access the Credentials Storage, let alone put any certs in there???

Does the skyrocket support push email messaging for gmail accounts? I have my outlook account set for push but I don't see the option with my Gmail accounts.

I believe push e-mail is supported for GMail but my Skyrocket's Gmail is syncing sporadically. Sometimes my phone will receive e-mail immediately and other times my phone will receive e-mail 30 minutes after it has already reached the Gmail servers. Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

skittzer, mine is the same, albeit, most times it is instant. But, we also have to ask ourselves, do we REALLY need email to be instant?

If something is that important and thus needed now, the person better call me! Just saying :)

Go to home/settings/accounts and sync/ under manage accounts you should see gmail account. Make sure it's button is on. Make sure the auto-sync is enabled.

I have the same issue for any account that needs to sync (twitter/facebook/gmail etc). Since I'm still in my first 30 days, they are sending me another phone - hoping I don't see the same lag.
