why won't my samsung galaxy centura respond to automated sysytems

Whenever i call a number taha answers with an automated system my response on key pad and voice is not reconized

Call another phone that you can listen to. Press a few number keys. Do you hear the tones in the phone you called? If so, it's the automated system, not your phone. If not, your phone isn't sending out tones.
