samsung galaxy s3 mini

My samsung galaxy s3 mini takes pics in the normal way, but some of the pics do not want to open. My pics get stored on an external memory card. Please help as these are my honeymoon pics.

Welcome to the forums.

I would recommend using a card reader and copying the photos to your computer before any harm can come to them.

You can also try something like:
Cloud Drive: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.amazon.clouddrive.photos - automatically backup your pictures/videos to the cloud; 5GB free
Drive Photo Uploader: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.mynextandroid.drivephotosync - similar to above, but used if you have Google Drive and don't want to mess with Amazon's offering
There are similar apps for Dropbox if you prefer that.

You could also use the Kies software on your PC to backup your pictures/videos (among other things).

Note that there's a history of the Samsung Galaxy S III having problems with SD cards - as Haalcyon noted, better safe than sorry.
