The problem is solved. No need to root, no need to factory wipe. You just need to clear the clipboard and reboot. Here's the easiest way:

1. Start the dialer app
2. Long-press in the dark area above the numeric keypad. Choose Clipboard, then Clear.
3. Reboot

This is a non-issue that is blown out of proportion because Samsung hasn't given clear instructions on how to get rid of bad-data that may be stuck in the clipboard. The steps above worked for me on my GS3.

Updated for those who don't have a dialer (tablet):

Samsung Galaxy S3/Note copy-paste bug resolved!

Don't listen to others - the solution is simple. No need to root, no need to factory wipe. You just need to clear the clipboard and reboot. Here's the easiest way:

1. Start the dialer app. If you don't have a dialer, see the note at the end of this post.
2. Long-press in the area above the numeric keypad where the numbers normally show. Choose Clipboard, then Clear.
3. Reboot

This is a non-issue that was blown out of proportion because Samsung hasn't given clear instructions on how to get rid of bad-data that is stuck in the clipboard. The above worked on my GS3 which recently developed this issue.

If you don't have a dialer: Open S-Memo and create a new text note. Long-press on the screen and you'll get a pop-up for Clipboard. Just click Clear.

We non-rooted users thank you.

I had all kinds of crap in there, including a few web pages.

After choosing "clipboard" no "clear" option shows on my phone. It does on my husband's phone. I installed Cashe Clear and tried to clear the clipboard that way but the app crashes just like anything else I try to use involving the clipboard.

You have 2 options;

1) Factory Restore your device

2) ROOT your device, install ROOT Explorer, navigate to / > data > clipboard, select ALL and delete all, than go into your Settings > Applications Manager > All, look for TestServices, than remove updates/clear data. Reboot and everything should be fine.

I opted for option 2 simply because restoring a device sucks and I wanted to root anyways because I missed AdFree, ROOT Explorer, and could not stand the WIFI Notification.

Thanks appreciated ;)

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

After spending an hour on the phone with Samsung, who wouldn't acknowledge the widespread problem and whose only solution was a Factory Restore, I went with your option # 2.

Worked like a charm on my Galaxy 7510 running Android 4.0.4. The entire process of rooting, installing RootExplorer and fixing the the problem took only 15 minutes. Now I can copy & paste again.

Thanks again. This posts and these forums in general, are invaluable!

I encountered the same problem with copy and paste. I called my service provider and they walked me through how to make it work and it works fine now.

Here is why a lot of us don't want to root or otherwise mess about with our devices:
1- we have paid a lot of money or we have signed contracts and we just expect the thing to work
2 - We have a life and in my case a business and spending time messing around with a recalcitrant machine is not good use of precious time
3- Some of us are genuinely concerned about breaching warranty conditions
4- and in my case whenever I have tried to work on computers in the past I have ended up listening to a specialist tell me that the amount of damage I had done exceeded anything they had ever seen before and was breathtaking in its complexity

I just want my S3 (GT 19300, Jellybeans 4.1.2, Vodafone UK, 2 weeks old) to work properly and the forumms are full of people complaining that copy and paste doesn't work

If you use another keyboard, like swiftkey, this does not work...you need the Samsung keyboard for this to work.

Even when I do as suggested in the Dialler or using S-Memo, no pop-up clipboard ever happens, after reverting to the Samsung Kb.....???

I am rooted and it is easy to clear the clipboard folders, so that is my workaround when using Swiftkey, and clearing the clipboard when using the Samsung Kb.

PhysAssist,
Although your tablet won't have a dialer to clear the clipboard through, you should be able to use the stock Messaging app to perform the same steps.
What happens when you try to clear the clipboard?

Anyway, to answer your question, rooting will not affect your reception - it doesn't mess with the radios. If you were to try to load a different ROM (CM for example) that might replace the radios.

I too have the same problem.
Every time I try to copy and paste with chrome, it would force close on me.
I have the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 4g lte.

I had this problem like 3 times. I try the root method, but it said I needed a computer or something.
I even talk to the galaxy support guy and he couldn't even fix it.
Maybe I'll hard reset it.
