Why can't I clear out / reset this S3?

A

AC Question

I need to use an old Galaxy S3 for a while, while I wait for enough spare cash to fix my S5, so no judgement re: such an old model >.<

Anyways!

It's used, from a friend, and she changes passwords so often she can't remember at all what she used to lock this particular phone. I've tried pressing Volume Down + Home + Power, and it just keeps restarting with the same damn lock screen, demanding a password I don't know.

Mocking me.

Does anyone know how to just completely obliterate, wipe clean this phone so I can use it?

Alternatively, if no one does know how to fix this situation, take a crack at the password and maybe we'll get lucky!

Thanks in advance...anyone.

Fingers crossed!

First, turn off your phone
Second, press Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time (Release Power button when you see something on the screen)

Ah! Thank you so much!
I was almost hoping it would be complicated so I could feel justified in being so baffled...but only almost. Fixing it this easily made my night!
Thanks again, man- a thousand karmas for you! ^_^
