No Keyboard, no phone or messaging. cannot run APK. will

Before I even had a clue about this business with recovery, root etc. I did root my other GS4. Both are Cricket and I was attempting to swap out tethering provisions file in / system/apps. Well I couldn't get it to go and hit the install on the apk and all heck broke out. The device rebooted and notifications came up saying unfortunately com.phone.android has stopped and I have no Keyboard. I can't open APK s. I can see on /system/xbin that su is there but I no longer have root. Can't install king root because it's am APK. PLEASE can someone help me?

Flash the correct stock ROM and start again. Smart Switch emergency firmware recovery may do the job so try that first

Are you running Android 5.1? Have you rooted with that OS Version? I have not found a reliable way to root an S-4 with 5.1
