I have tried every other fix in other threads, please help if you've got a foolproof solution.

This device worked fine prior to factory resetting it last week. It is unlocked originally form Verizon phone running on T-MOBILE.

Device: Samsung Galaxy S6
Model number: SM-G920V
Android version: 5.0.2 Lollipop

Things I have tried that did not solve the problem:
1) Clearing the cache
2) Resetting app settings
3) Restarting the phone
3) Clearing up internal storage
4) Factory data resetting the phone
5) Wipe cache partition from reboot menu
6) Changing Language/Turning on/off Airplane mode
7) Changing APN settings

I am having the same issue but with a ZTE Obsidian. I am about to lose my mind. Everything works up till the point where I put in my Google account password. Almost as soon as I touch go, unfortunately google play services has stopped. HELP!

I just unlocked my phone I got a note 3 but I am having same problems man. I used cellularunlock.net to get code. How'd u unlock urs?

Long shot, but try Settings -> Apps -> Google Play Services -> menu -> Uninstall Updates

Also the same. Old Note 3 phone, decided to factory reset it to let young ones play on it, Dec 16th. Can't sign into google play on first launch to get anything. Cant sign into google account through settings. Says play services has stopped working. Tried going through webpage to download stuff, can't do that because of play not signed in even though it recognizes it from the website.

Still doing it today as of the 17th

Rogers Note 3 though not actively registered
model: SM-N900W8
version: 5.0

Same here, I have an old note 3 from bell, factory reset to use as monitor for my up camera and when I try to add an account, the error pops up

factory reset my s4 today (December 17th 2016) and having the same problem.
looks like i'm not the only one who's having the same problem

Same problem here after a factory reset of a gen 1 Moto X. It prompted me to install an update to Google Play Services before I could add a Google account, but in order to the install the update, I had to be logged into a Google account -- a Catch-22 if I've ever seen one. I've tried emptying caches, clearing app data, restarting, even doing another factory reset, but nothing has worked so far.

Many users are impacted by the same problem recently. I had a call with Google Support. There is a bug in Google Play Services, which they are working on. They will update once the bug is fixed. Thanks.

Hi there I had same problem with my galaxy note 3 after a factory reset and here is how I fixed it:

Basically I had to manually download the latest google play services apk for my device. If you go into settings > application manager > google play services it should show you the version that you have along with 3 digit number that you will need to keep in my mind.

To find out which variant of the latest Google play services you need follow this guide then download and install that version from apk mirror.

Ya exactly, but for my obsidian phone, before it wasn't at 5.1 it use to be 4.2.1.1 I think what happened is that when we rested our phones, it did the update even though our phones aren't compatible with the update so its all messed up now :/

This didn't work. Installed a few for my note 3, the newest available for the note 3 for my phone, version 7.8.99, down to a the next one up from default of 6.7something. Still crashes on login

Hi, guys. Finally I could find a solution of my own. Please do the following:

1. Download the Google Play Services and Play Store apk or request one of your friends to do so and transfer the same to you using Bluetooth.
2. Install the Google Play Service followed by Google Play Store and things should work.

The above solution worked for me.

All the best !!!

I called Google and they said they're having a problem and it is only affecting recently reset devices. I'm supposed to get an email when it's up and running again.

I also have a note 3 that is having the same issue because it was factory reset when I purchased it last week. Hope this helps!

I experienced this issue following a factory reset of my AT&T Galaxy Note 3. The above fix resolved my issue. One caveat is that my system showed Google play services version 6.x - 438, but I had to use - 238 because they changed the numbering after version 8.
