Why are messages not showing up on galaxy s7 edge

I recently bought a galaxy s7 edge, and I use the Samsung messages app for texting. But often when i open up messages all I see is the background of the messages app and that is all i see. and that is for every message thread. I can fix this by restarting my phone, but this gets very annoying after having it happen twice a day. so i hope to find a permanent fix for this.

3rd party app like Textra. I haven't used the Samsung app in years because it's something they just can't seem to get right.

Try going into your settings and under application manager, look for messages and clear cache.

I'm another Textra user. The stock one bugs out and just doesn't have as many nice features like the 3rd party apps.
