Another stock email question

I am trying to set up the stock email app but I am having two issues. The first is that when I set notifications to each email account including sound and vibration, they never come through. No notification in the drop down, no sound, no vibration. Not sure what the issue is there. 2nd issue I have is that I cannot get my Hotmail account to set up through the app. When I type in the credentials and hit ok, it never goes from "connecting to incoming server" and I've literally let it go for 5 minutes with no success. Any and all insight is greatly appreciated.

Maybe set up accounts in the phone first

I did that when I first set up my phone. In another post, someone suggested "In which ever email app used, go to settings > exchange server settings > exchange server and change it from "m.hotmail.com" to "m.outlook.com" and this actually worked. Thank you for your reply though
