Message text missing after Nougat Att

When i launch the stock message app, the sender's name are missing. Only the alpha abbreviation icon is showing. Any thoughts. Below is screen shot.

Are you using a theme at all? If so, try reverting to using the Stock theme and see how it looks.

Yes i reverted back and see them. I prefer the black background and can have it only if i changed the theme but then gave me the blank senders. How do i get a black background to the messages app

That I'm not sure, you'd have to wait for the theme to be compatible w/ Android 7.0, select another theme, or a third-party SMS app which would allow for that. I use Google Messenger, so I'm not super familiar w/ the stock Messaging app.
