Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
This morning I turned on my Tab and found a new firmware update!?!?

I had a 95% charge on my Tab and so I decided to update. However...
Something went wrong. The update failed and I had to reset my Tab. After that, my Wifi was stuck obtaining IP. I managed to fix that problem by setting a static IP.
After that, I couldn't find any firmware updates and now my default Live Wallpapers are gone.
Frustrating morning.

Sorry to hear about the update messing up your tab. I will hold off on the update to see if it is corrected.

Re: Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
Tab firmware just gave me a message that software update failed, says it's running 3.2,
...Samsung Support is escalating the issue...that probably means it's going to be a long afternoon - 11-14-2011, 01:25 PM #12

Re: Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
I just changed the saved Wi-Fi info from DHCP to Static. Just press and hold on the saved Wi-Fi info and select "Modify network config".
You'll need to set up the static IP on your router. That process varies from router to router, so you will have to look that up online. - 11-14-2011, 01:40 PM #16

Re: Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
I am stuck with an autistic galaxy tab which doesn't want to get its update and cannot connect to Wifi anymore!
I would be pleased to get a solution... By the way, I can still connect to Kies but it tells me that my firmware is already up-to-date...Last edited by ratamovic; 11-14-2011 at 02:27 PM.

Re: Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
Count me in as well with a failed update. When I boot, it says update failed. It only reached 53% during the update. Now, WiFi cannot obtain an IP address - when doing so, next to my E3000 router, even when next to it, it shows minimal signal strength while trying to get the IP address. Of course, it never resolves. I noticed that WiFi *AND* airplane mode were enabled at boot.

Re: Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
For those of you failed update, is your Tab rooted?
Even if you manage to get wi-fi to work, even though your tab says it is running 3.2, some of your system binaries are probably still old because of failed update process. That's also the reason why wi-fi won't connect properly.
Basically same story as the first AT&T Captivate (Galaxy S) update for some owners. Samsung never learns. - 11-14-2011, 03:03 PM #22
Re: Firmware update 11-14-2011 screwed up my Tab
Static IP works like a charm, but autorotate of course is AWOL. Two different Samsung reps are confirming the issue, saying "Our engineers are working on it."
Consequently, enabling static IP does get rid of the "Update failed" as it then connects to the servers to verify the new version installed. - 11-14-2011, 03:13 PM #23

Nope it wasn't rooted.
In tablet logs, I can see that it fails to obtain an IP address:
Indeed a static IP seems to work... of course if you have a router!
