Gear S and the CLOUD?

I see the picture of a cloud with arrows going up to it and down from it at the upper left of my screen when I swipe down to check battery percentage. What is that all about?

Is the Gear S a "cloud" based device in some way? I don't use the cloud and don't want to use the cloud, peroid! Does anyone know what this upper left picture is all about and how it relates to the use of the Gear S?

Don't see anything on mine. Never seen any cloud logo either. When I swipe down I just have the bluetooth logo in the top left

The cloud signifies the "remote connection" mode of the Gear S. You'll notice it should be grey and not white (meaning it's not active). In other words, don't worry about it since you don't have it paired to a phone.
