Wow, sounds pretty bad.

I'm wondering what the advantage to Spotify is?

The Apple streaming and Google Play service seem better, other than not running on Alexa and some smart TV's (Spotify WILL run on them)

Main advantage is that I can leave my phone at home and still stream music, track my workout and still get text messages and notifications. It's pretty awesome but does drain the battery really fast.

It uses a fair bit of battery on the S3 as well. The bigger issue for me is general unreliability. Spotify stops streaming about half-the-time during my runs. I've given up on using it. I have resorted to buying $9 albums of running music from Amazon (typically 50-100 songs) and syncing them to the watch and streaming them directly. This works reliably and uses much less battery. I'd prefer to stream Spotify but oh well.
