    Virgin Mobile tethering policy

It is a great feature when you are in need of data for a laptop or tablet when on the road. If people would just use it as that, an occasional connection. Unfortunately it gets abused like anything else, they slap on limits and make sure new phones does not have the feature available out of the box.

    $25 plan toast?

"The bottom picture shows me on T-Mobile's coverage map, well inside 2G coverage, the 2G coverage goes quite a ways around my house (according to the map). So... hmmmm... I wonder who has better service for me in reality, elsewhere coverage looks comparable to VM service. I don't know anyone...

    $25 plan toast?

Darn it, my cover is blown, back to the drawing board. On a completely different note, I tried the T-Mobile 4G with a Galaxy Exhibit. Could not get any data signal in my house and had to drive 10 miles to find a 4G signal. The 4G was slower than my VM 3G. Now back with VM and the $35 plan...

    $25 plan toast?

Just checking XDA for rooting on the Samsung and it looks pretty straight forward so all the bloat can be removed. They have a nice page with all the steps. My only concern is the Tm coverage it looks pretty poor in general as soon as you get out of nearby cities here in upstate NY. Not that Vm...

    $25 plan toast?

Just saw the mention of the Tmobile $30 prepaid plan, thanks for the heads up. It is sold at Walmart using Samsung 4g phones retails about $190. The plan list Unlimited 4g, but caps 4g at 5Gb then goes to 2g for the rest of the month. Includes 100 min. voice. So why would anyone stay with Vm...

You are 100% right, he could have just tossed this out to get rid of my call. Surprised no one else have tried calling cs to see if they get the same or a different answer.

    $25 plan toast?

I can only hope you are right and the cs person was of base. This service is not worth another $10 in my opinion.

    $25 plan toast?

I called to ask about putting a Triumph on my $25 plan, he said the $25 plan goes away for all users in Nov. Also he said the coverage is being expanded for the phones, guess maybe they are switching it all to the Sprint towers, not sure exactly. Still sucks!!

I got an email about my data usage.

If anyone here was paying a monthly phone bill leading up to 1984 there should be no doubt why the above post is very true. AT&T or Bell were as brutal then as it is today. I can still remember paying well over $100 per month for the landline. Excuses upon excuses why the bill is so high, no...

I got an email about my data usage.

Well, not really. It is within his right to use as much as he wants. Also they have no right to question what he is doing with the phone, if he pays his bill that is all they should be concerned about. If they change the policy, then that is a different matter. I don't think 17 GB is...

I just need a gingerbread rom with native tethering that works

It was not an issue then, and it is not an issue now. It was a way to maximize profits then and it is a way to maximize profits now. The excuses for limiting were the same then as they is now. They are claimed to be equipment limits, read claimed, not proven. If anyone feel bad about...

Wow, the optimus v is sold out everywhere

I think it is related to the huge demand for the phone. The word got around quick, there are a lot of people that waited for a plan like Sprint/VM for $25. I was one of them, I liked the deal so much I picked up 2 of them. Could not be happier with the phone and the plan, lets hope the plan...

[AIO] ROMTools v2.3.1 (ex-recoveryflasher) Tons of new features!

I do believe that is what the very 1st. post on this forum is all about. It just obtains permanent root, by adding a couple of files. No recovery mods and no changes to the stock setup. After that you could just get SetCpu and overclock the CPU.

[AIO] ROMTools v2.3.1 (ex-recoveryflasher) Tons of new features!

Took the step and flashed the VM-Xionia today using your flash rom to phone. Everything worked 100%. Used Setcpu for 790Mhz, the speed difference is very noticeable. Excellent tool for people that don't like typing the commands. Many thanks!

[AIO] ROMTools v2.3.1 (ex-recoveryflasher) Tons of new features!

Have to admit it was all my fault for not renaming the included recovery.img to vrecovery.img. For whatever reason I thought the included recovery.img was automatically renamed by the options for the different phones during the process. Not sure if it helps anyone else, but it all worked fine...
