    Bugs in Jelly Bean

I hate to post a 'me too', but I upgraded about 2 hours ago and have tried to replicate all of the problems I've seen posts about (probably missed a couple...) and just trying everything I normally use. I've had no issues (so far) and everything seems smoother and faster. The only thing I did...

Polaroid 7 inch tablet with ICS $99

I agree completely - to a point. If someone's looking for a real, fully usable, tablet that they won't have to fuss too much with, they shouldn't be looking at the really low end. Anything near the $100 price point is almost sure to have some major failing. OTOH, If the buyer is aware that...

    Battery help!

How old is your 'old battery'? They do lose capacity over time and will eventually refuse to charge at all. I usually buy a new battery every year for every day use and keep the old one(s) as spares.

Polaroid 7 inch tablet with ICS $99

No, it doesn't have a camera.

    tablet under $40???

I would not get it, but if you couldn't spend any more then $45 ($40 for tablet, $5 for shipping) it might be worth it. You'd have to decide if having any tablet now is better then saving for a better one. This looks like an older pandigital model. It says "Android 2.0" and the info I quickly...

    Google Play = MIA

The 'standard' way to get the Market/Play Store to update is: - go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All (tab) - find Market/Google Play Store - press 'Force Stop' - press 'Uninstall Updates' - exit back to home screen - I usually reboot at this point, probably not necessary... - run...

Google Looking to lose monumental case

Groklaw.net is an excellent source of information on the Oracle/Google trial. If you don't know about Groklaw, it was started during the SCO vs Linux lawsuits and provided interesting and accurate information and analysis about those lawsuits and their possible outcome. They're now also...

Polaroid 7 inch tablet with ICS $99

For the price, it sounds interesting - might get one to play around with and also use as an e-book reader/web browser. There are a couple of threads on XDA-developers about polaroid tablets (mainly the PMID700), one of them has a link to a brief writeup of a new PMID701i - Polaroid 7 inch...

Re: Has anyone connected an external USB hard drive to a tablet a Yes, on an Acer A500 (same as Charlesleonard). If the hard drive is USB-powered, it will run down the battery quite a bit to watch the movie from the hard drive. Copying the movie to internal memory and watching it from there...

standing in downtown Austin TX with no cell service.

Considering that SXSW is going on in Austin right now, I'd guess that the system is just overloaded. The other carriers might be having some issues also - unless they overbuild their systems to be able to handle this yearly event.

Looks normal to me, sure you used the right address?

HTC Hero Hack to Use on Sprint without Data

Have you tried calling Sprint to asking them if they could do this? It might not need a 'hack' if they can add it to the plan without data.

Why is AOSP STILL missing 1 BASIC feature?

I assume it's because T9 is patented. I assume that phone manufacturers have a license for the patent and that software developers either have a license or are ignoring the issue (and hoping that they won't get sued). Since Google distributes android to anyone who wants it, it would be...

    Refurb. A500-10S16u $279

Refurb. Acer Iconia A500-10S16u Tegra 10.1" Android Tablet - $279 - MacConnection Yes, they're refurbished - some people have a problem with that but I've never had an issue with any refurbished computer equipment I've bought. Also, like most refurbished equipment, they only come with a 90 day...

    backup using astro

Automatically, I doubt. You'll probably have to install each one from the backup individually. I'd check astro's website for their instructions on how to do a backup/reset/restore.

    backup using astro

IIRC, Astro backups are stored on the SD Card, so they should be safe when you do a reset. OTOH, I copy my SD card to my PC before I reset, just in case... The easiest way to recover your apps would be to simply go into the Android market and download Astro again and use that to install the...

    GPS help

Did a quick google search and found a page that gives some specs on the MID TR718D: rockchip-mid-tr718d In the specs, it says 'GPS: No' - evidently there is no built in GPS chip (which is what I'd expect on a cheap tablet).

    Htc system update

Try rebooting the phone. I had this problem last week after I spent some time uninstalling unused apps and installing a couple of new ones. I had the same problem as you, and the thing that finally fixed it was a reboot. I think the icon was just 'stuck' since my phone didn't seem like it was...

    quick reboot?

Since Sprint/HTC said that fastboot might cause problems with some apps, I've always had it turned off. OTOH, I only reboot my phone one a week (or less) so it isn't a big issue for me.

Why does one specific person's Emails to me always show up blank?

Re: Why does one specific person's Emails to me always show up bl It probably is his aim account (or rather the email program it uses). It probably isn't formatting the email properly to the standards that the stock email program expects. It probably looks OK when you look at it with other...
