Did not try it but the idea sounds interesting, and the UI in the screen snapshots looks pleasant. BTW, don't expect much feedback here. Developers often come here with over optimistic expectations.

I wouldn't. Why do add more bloatware? Rooting will solve your problem.

Opera Mini is supposed to work against a backend proxy that filters and compresses the data sent to the device so theoretically it may requires less bandwidth. I don't know for a fact though that this is the case.

Welcome to the world of bundleware. Last week I returned a Samsung 10.1 tablet for this exact reason. Possibly there are aftermarket launchers (launcher pro, go launcher, etc) that will allow you to hide some apps from the app list, to reduce the annoyance.
